Show Time for Young Musical Talent

Quality Solicitors Nalders is once again sponsoring Camborne Music Festival.  The Festival is in its 42nd year and continues to support young, emerging musical talent in the county.  A few super talented previous winners have gone on to achieve great accolades, despite being in their teenage years.

The Festival will be held at Camborne Centenary Church from Monday 14th to Saturday 19th November.  Over 100 classes are available including vocal classes ranging from Barbershop Quartets to Choirs, Organ, Harp, Piano, Composition, Guitar, Strings, Recorders, Woodwind, Brass, Ukulele or other instruments.

Each year the event sees entries from children under eight years old through to some adults that have entered every festival since it began.  Above all, Camborne Music Festival plays an important part in the development of young Cornish talent.

Vocalist Kirsten Mulcahy won the ‘Most Promising Vocalist Under 18’ and ‘Most Promising Young Musician’ awards at the festival last year.  She continues to be a guest soloist with the City of Truro Male Voice Choir and has her sights firmly set on a career in singing.

Another winner of the ‘Most Promising Young Musician’ award is teenager Christopher Bond.  Christopher composes music, plays the cornet and has been playing the piano since he was six years old.  He has played lead cornet in six National final wins and has played first keyboard in the pit for a production at the Minack Theatre.

Sophie Edwards’ outstanding violin playing has also won ‘Most Promising Young Musician’ at Camborne Music Festival.  A gifted young teenager with plenty of concert experience, Sophie is heading for a career as a professional violinist or vocalist.

Camborne Music Festival has a vital role in the county as it helps to shape the future careers of local musicians and vocalists.

Organised and run by dedicated volunteers, the event depends on money fundraised throughout the year as well as practical help from local businesses.  The event has also enjoyed the continued support of sole sponsor Quality Solicitors Nalders for a number of years, who are delighted to be supporting it again.

Wayne Bushell, Partnership Director of Quality Solicitors Nalders explains.

“Supporting Camborne Music Festival is one of the best ways to support young musical talent in Cornwall.  The dedication of these young people is quite extraordinary and deserves to be applauded.  The Nalders Foundation has a commitment to support young people in the county and the Festival is an important annual fixture that we’re proud to sponsor.”

The General Secretary for the Festival, Alvine Holmes, is pleased to have the law firm’s continuing support.

“Encouraging our young musicians on their journey is what the Festival is all about.  Music is a challenging career to choose and our youngsters show extraordinary drive to be as excellent in their fields as they are.  We are grateful to Quality Solicitors Nalders for their help which benefits the festival and enables us to support these young people to develop their musical careers.”

Entries are now open until 24th September and to enter musicians must complete and return a form in the syllabus which can be found at Trevada Music store or the Quality Solicitors Nalders offices in Camborne.
