Charity Donation Teed Up by Local Solicitors Firm

Quality Solicitors Nalders has raised £1500 for charity from its recent Foundation Golf Day.

Open to all, this third annual event saw many local businesses and individuals competing at the West Cornwall Golf Club in Lelant, St Ives on Friday 27th May.  This is the oldest golf club in Cornwall and has a challenging links course.

Partnership Director for Quality Solicitors Nalders, Wayne Bushell, is pleased with the day’s success:

“The players had a good day and the support from our connections and clients was outstanding.  With their generosity we raised £1500 for our nominated charity Active 8.  This will enable local teenagers with physical disability to enjoy adventurous activities on their residential weekends throughout the year.”

Next year’s golf event is to be dedicated to Murdo Mace, the Managing Director of Midas Construction who passed away in October.  The event will be called the Murdo Mace Challenge Trophy, hosted by Quality Solicitors Nalders, to commemorate the charitable support that the two firms have developed together over the years.

Liz Olive, Trustee of Active 8 reports that the teenagers are delighted with this most recent donation:

“Having ongoing corporate support like that of Quality Solicitors Nalders is hugely valuable to our charity.  We can plan accessible activity weekends for the groups and enable the teenagers to try activities they never thought possible, such as surfing and the Duke of Edinburgh Awards.”

Liz continues:

“The weekend trips that we’ve had this year have already given our members some real ‘first time’ experiences and with Nalders’ support we can promise plenty more.”

The Nalders Foundation has now raised over £16,000 for local good charities through a variety of direct contribution by the firm and from fundraising activities such as themed evenings, sponsored sporting events and a horse show.

Active 8 is a group of young people with physical disabilities who live in Cornwall and meet every month to take part in a weekend of activities.  These residential weekends aim to reduce the feeling of isolation felt by these teenagers by helping to build relationships.  The members also learn independence skills and enjoy pastimes that would be impossible without a dedicated approach to accessibility.
