Nalders Gives Local Charity First Donation of Many
Active 8 will be receiving a treat this Christmas from Nalders. The solicitors firm has selected the Cornish organisation as its chosen charity for 2011 and is starting the relationship by giving £314.28 together with website expertise from its IT Manager.
Throughout next year Nalders will pay for activities and transport for Active 8’s residential weekends. Partnership Director for Nalders, Wayne Bushell, explains why Active 8 was chosen.
“The charity enables young people with physical disabilities who live in Cornwall to meet every month for activity weekends where they can learn new skills and make strong relationships. Nalders is delighted to support the residential weekends planned for next year as they add so much value to these young people’s lives.”
Popular activities for the groups include fencing, surfing, cooking, music and the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. All are accessible and fun while teaching young people valuable skills to increase independence.
Liz Olive, Trustee of Active 8 is delighted with the first instalment of Nalders’ donations:
“What a lovely Christmas present for the group! It is fantastic to start the year knowing that we have this new support and excitement is already building for next year’s Active 8 programme. Nalders’ support makes an extraordinary difference to the group. These activities enable young people to take part in activities they thought were impossible for them due to their physical disability. Confidence builds and friendships flourish.”
Nalders has also volunteered the services of their IT manager to the charity. Mark Howes has helped Liz to optimise the website so that it attracts more visitors.
Over the last two years Nalders has donated over £15,000 to local causes via direct donations and staff fundraising.
